On board
The standard Sailink service and prices include refreshments for half day crossings, and more substantial food and drink for the longer ones.
Accommodation is available on board for the night prior to and or following the voyage. We have 2 x double cabins with en-suite bathrooms available. Prices are per cabin. Please bring a sleeping bag as we will not have laundry facilities at this stage.
Food on board is simple but good. Please specify if vegetarian or vegan as well as any allergies etc.
We supply safety and wet-weather gear if you would like to be out on deck in it. Otherwise your regular rain jacket should be sufficient. It can feel cold in the wind even in summer, so maybe pack a woolly hat.
COVID routines
We will adapt our COVID procedures according to the latest UK and French joint policy. Face masks and hand wash will be provided. To enable social distancing we will be travelling with a maximum of 4 passengers, meaning a total of only 6 people on board.
Our request: as ashore, if you have been in contact with someone with the virus or are feeling the symptoms we would please ask you not to come on board. A full refund will be provided.
Customs
The border enforcement agencies come to us so we all need to be at the ship at a pre-arranged time. Ideally this will be as one group of passengers disembarks and the next embarks.
Motion sickness
Motion sickness (in this case seasickness) can turn a much anticipated sailing voyage into a very unpleasant experience, but there are several ways to guard against it. Seasickness is the reaction of your body’s inner ear balance system to the unfamiliar motion of the ship.
Here is our shortlist of methods to help avoid it:
1. Try not to arrive stressed or expecting to be seasick, this will only make it worse in the eventuality.
2. If you are sure you will suffer from it then take some preventative medication the night before sailing. Medicines against nausea include antihistamines such as Bonine and Dramamine - available over the pharmacy counter or from us if staying on board prior to the crossing.
3. Natural supliments to take shortly before boarding or whilst on board are pepermint and ginger - so maybe take a tea rather than a coffee before hand. We also have these on board.
4. Regularly glance at the horizon and avoid lengthy reading or looking at your phone - you're out their to experience it after all.
5. When you need to go to the lavatory, close your eyes whilst sitting.
6. Take lighter snacks rather than heavy meals and avoid fatty, spicy and acidic foods.
7. Stay out of the sun but get lots of fresh air.
Oh, and incase it needs saying, maybe don't go out on an all-nighter just before! Going to the pub after the crossing is much more fun and you'll have something to celebrate.
All further infos will be provided with the booking and updated as necessary.
